About Me
Rory is a multidisciplinary artist and musician located in Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2015. Her focus is on traditional oil painting reminiscent of Dutch still life paintings of the late 1600s paired with fiber arts to upend expectations in a comforting way. Her compositions reflect the idea that you cannot have light without dark – the coldest, darkest winters cause us to dream about the warmth of summer. Moments of laughter heal the soul crumbling from loss, but too much light can burn our eyes and leave us feeling exposed. This most innate dynamic of human existence is captured through the vibrant depiction of flowers, fruit and skulls on a dark background frequently accompanied with felt, embroidery, and a crocheted yarn frame.
